but there is hope.
The High/Scope Perry Study found that children in poverty who received high quality early childhood education had 50% fewer arrests, less drug abuse and fewer teen pregnancies. They were 59% less likely to be dependent on social assistance and are more likely to complete high school.
Yellowstone Academy is bringing a solution.
Because solutions to this crisis require intensive interaction with children and their families over a long period of time and starting at a very early age, Yellowstone Academy was established. Yellowstone Academy is a private, Christ-centered school exclusively serving children from low-income families. The school sets high expectations for students and places a premium on the basic attributes necessary for success in American life: character, responsibility, self-reliance and faith.
Yellowstone Academy represents a comprehensive approach to addressing the problems caused by the cycle of illegitimacy, illiteracy and dependency that plague families in poverty. Our goal is to reach children in circumstances that create a high probability of life dysfunction and to provide for them the environment and tools that will lead to a high probability of life success.
Yellowstone Academy currently has 288 students in Pre-K 3 to 6th grade. The plan is to add one grade level per year through the eighth grade.
