Y-Connect  is Yellowstone Academy’s Graduate Mentor Program designed to continually connect our eighth grade graduates with educational, spiritual, social, and practical resources they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

Currently, 62 Yellowstone graduates are attending various magnet, private, charter, and neighborhood high schools throughout Houston. With the support of their Yellowstone family and Y-Connect Mentors and Volunteers, these students will graduate from high school prepared to further their education at a college or university, enter the workforce, and become leaders in their community.

Y-Connect Mentor

The best way to get involved serving the graduates of Yellowstone is to become a Y-Connect Mentor. Similar to our Shepherd Program, Y-Connect Mentors establish a personal relationship with a high school student for a minimum of one year. Mentors agree to meet with their teen(s) a minimum of once a month and connect with them by text, phone, social media, or email once a week.  The visit may entail something as simple as going out for a meal, helping with a school project, shopping for a high school dance, attending a sporting event, or a visit to one’s place of business. These visits, along with the weekly contact, allow Mentors to have a positive influence on their teen’s life and offer encouragement and support for navigating high school.

A Mentor may be a single person or a family, but must be an active member of a Christian church.  Whatever the specific circumstances of the Mentor, the teen will benefit from seeing responsible Christian people interacting with each other and exhibiting the habits and practices that lead to successful lives.
