Goodman Financial Corporation
Earlier this year, the development office received an unexpected phone call from Steve Goodman of Goodman Financial Corporation. Steve’s firm is a money manager for the Fred & Mabel Parks Foundation and had heard wonderful things about the school from Jim McClellan, the Foundation’s President. Steve’s company donates 20% of its fees from its foundation clients to a cause its client supports. Yellowstone had just formed its first basketball team and its first dance team. Both groups were lacking uniforms…..until the phone rang. Goodman Financial Corporation provided the funds for both group’s uniforms, and you could see the students’ self-esteem rise as they put the uniforms on for the very first time. Their smiles told the story.

Recently, Goodman Financial Corporation again stepped in to provide the needed funds to send the dance team to dance camp in Brenham, Texas this summer. The generosity of Mr. Goodman and Goodman Financial Corporation is making a huge difference in these young people’s lives. Perhaps one of the students will some day be a basketball star or a world famous dancer…..all because someone gave them an opportunity they would not otherwise have had….and that made all the difference.
Avalon Advisors generously donated two sweatshirts to each of our students to keep them warm and cozy this winter! The Avalon Advisors staff, which included Lorraine Becker, Gary Bonner, Radka Fibingerova, Ryan Fletcher, Linda Hetherwick, Anisa Perez, Debbie Peterson, Tarius Williams, and Raymond Wong, helped sort and distribute the 576 sweatshirts for our kids. They had a great time meeting our kids and seeing some of the wonderful things going on at Yellowstone.

International Medical Outreach under the leadership of Todd and Sue Price sponsored, organized, and coordinated a Student Health Day at Yellowstone Academy. All of our students were provided with health screenings, medical exams, dental exams, and a neccessity kit. The health screenings and medical exams were donated by doctors from Memorial Hermann Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, and Texas Children's Hospital. Memorial Herman Hospital and Lakewood Church provided equipment and personnel to run the day smoothly. Dr. Scott Coleman and Dr. Tim McKenzie were among the numerous volunteers from various organizations and businesses who generously donated their time to help our students.
The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa organized a towel drive to be used by the physical education classes at Yellowstone Academy. They collected over 300 towels, which has allowed our older students to dress out for P.E. and shower before returning to class.
