Welcome! Thank you for visiting the web page for Miles for Meals, a 2,181 mile hike from Georgia to Maine to benefit Yellowstone Academy! In February of 2012, I will embark on a five month hike from Springer Mountain, Georgia, to Mount Katahdin, Maine along the entirety of the Appalachian Trail to benefit Yellowstone Academy. Yellowstone was created in July 2001, for the purpose of establishing a Christian private school exclusively serving low-income children in Houston's inner city. Yellowstone student is named Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholar Breakthrough Houston and Yellowstone Academy are proud to announce that Roneisha Gamble has been named a Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholar by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation (JKCF). I've got a new class this school year with 7 new students, and they are eager to learn about photography. Before they left for Fall break, I wanted to introduce some concepts dealing with shutter speed, but I didn't want to get into too much, as long breaks can lead to forgetfulness. So, I came up with an idea to take some spooky Halloween photos of our class, and use slow shutter speeds and double exposures to achieve ghostly effects! All of the students will return to school on Halloween day, so they will come back to Photo Club's terrifying 1st show of the year! -Chris Bailey

I've always been thrilled by the prospect of adventure. My love of the unknown, and of diving into it headfirst, probably has its roots in the sand and muck of Buffalo Bayou, which meanders through the backyard of my parents' house in Houston, TX. As a child, I spent my weekends and summers exploring its banks, questing for lost gold and building outposts. My love of service was born as a high school student at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, where the importance of serving the community is emphasized from the very first day. Graduates of Strake are expected to act as Men for Others, an entreaty which remains a guiding beacon for my thoughts and actions.
